he tale of four women starts after the death of a close friend, Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong). They take on life and live as what is offered- oftentimes in very hilarious and forebodingly comical ways.
Even though Mary’s character is no longer visibly seen on screen, she still remains in spirit as she guides us through the daily lives of her used-to-love people, commenting from her peerless point of view.
The series is narrated by Mary, taking viewers inside Wisteria Lane, an American suburb that’s anything but ordinary. The women of Wisteria include Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), Julie (Andrea Bowen), Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria), Bree Van De Kamp (Maria Cross) and Renee Perry (Vanessa Williams).
Susan, a divorcee is now married and raising 2 kids. She is described as emotionally-driven at romantic at heart. Susan and her daughter Julie spent many years taking care of each other after divorcing her former husband Carl. During the first four seasons, she and her plumber neighbor were in an on-off relationship. Their relationship finally blossomed as she gave birth to her son Maynard. As the series leaped, the two then decided to end their used-to-romantic relationship. Susan now has a new hot lover.
Lynette is a cancer survivor who now helps her husband run Tom’s Pizzeria. She is a mother of four, whom three of them are the next thing to a devil’s spawn. She represents the person inside all of us, someone who can’t seem to hold the pieces altogether. She is a savvy businesswoman and once made a name for herself in the working world. But despite the success she attains in her career, Lynette once struggled raising her wild children and had fought cancer in season four.
Bree is the Martha Stewart of Wisteria, uptight perfectionist. However, just like anyone, beneath her sophisticated exterior lays imperfection. After her mother’s death, she repressed all her emotions inside and presented an illusion of perfection that everyone sees on her. More so, her relationship with her children has been unstable over the years.
Gabrielle is the youngest of all the housewives at Wisteria. She is an ex-model who knows exactly what she wants and how to get them. Despite her vanity, Gabrielle is still passionate at heart. She is a devout mother her children, Grace, Juanita and Celia. She realized that raising children is as competitive as preparing for a runway show.
Renee, Lynette’s college roommate and a sorority sister, is a sexy blunt chic who is never afraid to share her thoughts. She shares many characteristics with Eddie (a Wisteria housewife who died from a fateful car accident on season 5). Renee is a party girl by nature but also has a soft sided heart. Her character arrives on season 7.
